City says deer found dead near Arb wasn't killed by sharpshooters
A deer found dead near Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor was not killed as part of the city's recent deer cull, according to the city.
Daniel Nadelman, a University of Michigan medical student, said last week there was a deer carcass along a trail leading to the Arb and it had been there for several days. As of this past weekend, it was still there.
Nadelman said when he first saw the deer, there appeared to be a bullet wound, though more recent damage to the carcass, which is now partially eaten, makes it difficult to tell what happened. Nadelman questioned whether the deer was shot by sharpshooters during the cull and left behind.
